Tequila Take Away

This drink is magical! It can transport you to a place that is very tropical if you just let it. Maybe Mexico or even possibly some tropical island on a white sand beach. The weather in Seattle has been average at best, which is very hard for a southern person. Also, I am in need of something to pull me out of my recent red wine binge. This tropical concoction will make you so happy you might even decide to take a tropical vacation to get the real thing out of a pineapple or coconut! This cocktail takes you away… wherever you want to go; at least for an hour or two!

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces of anejo tequila
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 cherries
  • 2 teaspoons of cherry juice
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 5 ounces of mango puree
  • ½ orange, juiced
  • ¼ cup of club soda

Garnish: 2 cherries and 2 teaspoon of cherry juice

Instructions:

  1. Fill the blender with the tequila, lime juice, bananas, cherries, cherry juice and ice
  2. Blend mixture and pour in a large glass or bowl
  3. Rinse out the blender and add mango puree, orange juice and club soda
  4. Blend mixture
  5. Fill the bottom of each serving glass with 1 teaspoon of cherry juice
  6. Fill serving glasses ¾ the way with the banana mixture
  7. Top off the glasses with the mango mixture and add a cherry on top

Yields: 2 or more servings depending on serving glass
