Winter White 75

by James Stevenson

Back in early November I was unexpectedly snowed in for a few days and instead of binge watching tv (maybe a little) I decided to put my time to better use and get creative with the ingredients I had with me. One of the cocktails that turned out best was the Winter White 75 made with NOLET’S gin, which was a spin on the classic French 75 but was winterized with some white cranberry juice.

The white cranberry juice is a little less tart than traditional cranberry juice so I didn’t have to add any additional sweeteners that didn’t belong but if you wish to you are of course welcome to do so. The lemon juice works really well with the white cranberry also with a complementing bitter citrus profile and everything goes well with Champagne so I knew there would be no issues there. NOLET’S has very pronounced botanical notes of rose, peach and raspberry, which complement this cocktail deliciously.

Recipe:

  • 1.5 ounces NOLET’S gin
  • ½ ounce lemon juice
  • ½ ounce of simple sugar or to taste
  • 1 ounce white cranberry juice
  • Top with champagne
  • 1 cup ice

Garnish: Rosemary and Cranberry sprig dusted with powdered sugar

Method:

  1. Fill shaker with gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, white cranberry juice and ice
  2. Shake hard to chill and combine ingredients
  3. Fine strain into coupe or flute
  4. Top with champagne
  5. Garnish with rosemary cranberry sprig
