Smoked Cherry Mojito

by James Stevenson

This week we received an awesome delivery from our friends at American Heirloom and made this delicious Smoked Cherry Mojito to utilize everything together. When the kit arrived the first thing we did was reach for the lemon bird cherries and the flavor was so delicious we decided they had to be more than just a garnish in our concoction. With our new personalized walnut muddler in hand, we grabbed some mint from the garden and mixed it in with the cherries, fresh limes and a little simple syrup.

Now that we had decided we were making a Mojito it was time for the main ingredient so we grabbed some white rum form the bar and our cocktail was ready, a little shake and we may have well been sitting on the beach in Trinidad. Check out their full line of products because they have some really cute, personalized equipment waiting for you to put your name on them.

Recipe:

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • 3 Lemon Bird cherries
  • 5-6 mint leaves

Method:

  1. Muddle cherries, lime and mint in a shaker with the simple syrup
  2. Add white rum and 1 cup of ice
  3. Shake softly as to combine ingredients but not bruise the mint
  4. Strain into Collins glass over fresh ice
