Master of Mixes Holidays

by James Stevenson

1When we were approached by Mixology Pro to create some delicious holiday cocktails the only difficulty we had was deciding which of their 45+ flavors to use. We picked out a few of our favorites that we thought were the most versatile and started experimenting with different flavor combinations and some got weird while others were kept really simple.

It all started with Thanksgiving where I used some ingredients I had already purchased for my famous pumpkin pie and worked them into a delicious tequila old fashioned. It was really tasty with the Agave Nectar fusing with the pumpkin puree and tequila perfectly and because Master of Mixes has handcrafted their authentic cocktail mixers for more than 40 years I knew they would be top quality and go as far as to source their pure organic agave nectar from the Jalisco region in Mexico.

Once thanksgiving is over you need to start preparing for Christmas and after experimenting for a while and coming up with a variety of delicious cocktails we decided it was best to keep it simple as you’re going to have a lot more to worry about on the day. We wanted something that was going to be quick to prepare and simple to serve to all your guests so we made a punch, but not just any punch, but a Pisco Piña Colada Punch. With the Master of Mixes Piña Colada Mixer we didn’t have to worry about finding all of the ingredients and just substituted pisco for the rum and garnished with some delicious cinnamon and rosemary to give the punch a subtle aromatic boost.

Christmas is going to be really simple and New Years is all about the party so the last thing you want to be doing is playing bartender all night. With simplicity in mind and of course wanting a pretty cocktail to serve everyone I came up with the 2018 Pomegranate-Cherry Sparkler. Sounds like you would need quite a few ingredients but luckily Master of Mixes has a grenadine syrup that is made from all natural pomegranates and cherries. The addition of cherries in the grenadine gives this cocktail a great fresh flavor that sets it apart and on New Years all you need to do is pour a little grenadine in your glass and top it with Champagne; what could be easier?
