Coconut Daiquiri

by James Stevenson

Today I have prepared a drink for you that is not only tropical but can be consumed all year round. Some of you may know that I lived in Vancouver, British Columbia for 4 months. During that time I became obsessed with a restaurant called Nomad Vancouver. One reason is because my best friend worked there but also because they have amazing cocktails and food.

, Coconut Daiquiri

This cocktail was created when my friend who worked there was raising funds for an amazing charity called Aprons for Gloves run out of the East Side Boxing Club; this charity provides community outreach through boxing. More specifically “Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth.

, Coconut Daiquiri

The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities. The sport of boxing teaches discipline, respect, hard work and self-control. Training results in positive self-esteem, good health and camaraderie for its practitioners.”
