Beer-y Bee’s Knees

by James Stevenson

Have you ever noticed that beer tastes better from a tap? Whether drinking it alone or in a cocktail, I’ll be pouring my beer from this Fizzics DraftPour from now on. It’s a great new product that converts the carbonation from your can/bottle of beer into a dense micro-foam, which in turn, enhances the aroma, flavor, and mouthfeel. The production of beer has always relied heavily on science, and the micro-foam is taking it to the next level by using science, once again, after the beer has been packaged; using ultrasonic waves. I think we can agree that it looks pretty impressive too, sitting elegantly in your entertaining area, you will definitely impress your friends topping off their cocktails with a wonderfully foamy beer.

I love the Bee’s Knees cocktail, and any time I have the opportunity to make a cool variation I jump at it, like this Beer-y Bee’s Knees. I know, the name isn’t very creative, but it’s pretty straight forward, just like the cocktail. Instead of using the traditional gin and lemon juice I went with a tequila and lime juice base then, added in some strawberries when crafting the honey syrup to give it a little seasonal kick; the hardest decision was, what beer to use to top it off. I ended up with the Founders MÀS AGAVE, which is perfect for cocktails as it is an Imperial Gose brewed with agave, lime and sea salt then aged in tequila barrels.
